Biathlon 3.5-kilometer-long track opens in Bakuriani

The Municipal Development Fund of the Georgian Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure completed the construction of a Biathlon and Cross Country 3.5-kilometer-long track in Bakuriani ski resort.

According to the Ministry, the new track will host the 2025 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in February. The related infrastructure was arranged with state funding in 2024.

The value of the project amounted to more than GEL 18.2 million. Lighting and water supply systems were reconstructed and an artificial snow system was installed.

Within the preparation works to host the 2025 European Youth Winter Olympics as early as February,  the Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure completed the construction of a world-class ice arena in Tbilisi and unveiled it on January 31.

This sophisticated facility features a 60-by-30-meter ice rink and can accommodate up to 700 spectators. It includes training and choreography rooms, rest areas, medical facilities, makeup rooms, conference rooms, locker rooms, and restrooms.

Additionally, there is a café with a panoramic view of the rink and ample parking space.

Hosting the 2025 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival will contribute to the popularization of Georgia, boosting tourism and the development of winter sports kinds.
