B9 joint declaration to pledge support to Georgia

The Heads of states of the Bucharest 9 (B9) Initiative pledged their support for Georgia in a joint declaration ahead of the NATO Summit. They expressed readiness to intensify dialogue and cooperation with the Central European, Baltic and Black Sea region countries.

“We also reaffirm our firm support for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia, Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova within their internationally recognised borders. While pursuing their respective European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations, these countries will continue to benefit as well from our support in their efforts to strengthen their resilience against any external interference,” reads the B9 joint declaration.

The Bucharest Nine (B9) consists of Poland, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania and Slovakia. It launched by Poland and Romania in 2014 by the Presidents of the nine countries. It aims at coordinating the security positions of countries on the eastern NATO flank.
