Azerbaijan's PM: Friendly, peaceful living of Azerbaijani, Georgian people to be based on cultural relations, historic roots
“For centuries, the Azerbaijani and Georgian people have lived in friendly, peaceful states, based on cultural relations of historical roots,” said Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov at the opening ceremony of the construction of the Tbilisi Azerbaijani State Drama Theater named after Heydar Aliyev.
According to the Azerbaijani PM, the culture, language, traditions, and literature of the Azerbaijani people are highly valued in Georgia, recalling the names of Azeri public figures who lived in Georgia.
Ali Asadov stressed that the “revival” of the Tbilisi Azerbaijani State Drama Theater in modern style was a historic event. He noted that the late President Heydar Aliyev had friendly relations with neighbouring countries, especially with Georgia, dating to President Eduard Shevardnadze’s era.
“Now, current President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili continue this rich historical tradition of friendly relations developing national interests of our independent countries democratically,” he said.
The Azerbaijani PM emphasized that the opening of the Tbilisi Azerbaijani State Drama Theater coincides with the 100th birthday anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev.
He thanked PM Irakli Garibashvili for inviting him to the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum, the government and people for their hospitality, and wished the theatre staff success.
“Thanks again to everyone for organizing this event, and congratulations on today’s historic event. Thanks to the government of Georgia. At the invitation of the Prime Minister of Georgia, we participated in the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum yesterday. I would like to once again thank the Prime Minister and the organizers for their high-level hospitality. As Mr Prime Minister noted, the negotiations on peace and development in the South Caucasus were held due to his set-up,” said Ali Asadov.
