Azerbaijan’s FM: Agreement reached with Armenia to launch border delimitation from Georgia tripoint

“An agreement has been reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia to commence the delimitation of their shared state border starting from the intersection point of the Azerbaijani, Armenian, and Georgian borders,” Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov announced.

Bayramov made the statement while addressing reporters on the sidelines of Baku Climate Action Week.

The Foreign Minister confirmed that Azerbaijan’s delegation to the State Commission on Delimitation remains unchanged, with Vice Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev continuing to lead the commission.

He noted that the bilateral commissions have held numerous working sessions to date, alongside the formal adoption and ratification of regulatory documents governing their joint activities in both Baku and Yerevan.

“An agreement has been secured regarding the direction in which the delimitation of our shared border will proceed. There is mutual understanding that work will advance from north to south, commencing at the most complex northern section, starting directly from the tripoint where the borders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia meet,” the Minister stated.

Bayramov added that the joint delimitation commissions would handle specific technical details and localised issues within their working framework.
