Any election is accompanied by shortcomings, although these minor cases in yesterday’s elections not affected results, CEC Chairman says

“There are some shortcomings in any elections, however, such cases were minor in yesterday’s elections and did not affect the results,” Chairman of the Central Election Commission, Giorgi Kalandarishvili, said during the news briefing.

According to him, the voting day proceeded under the law.

“Voters had the opportunity to make their own choices in a safe and healthy environment. Election officials served voters at a highly professional level. Freedom of observers and the media was fully guaranteed per the law.

However, any election, especially when it comes to technological innovations, is always accompanied by some shortcomings, although such cases were minor and did not affect the results.

There were also complaints, which will be considered on time, following the procedures established by law, by the relevant election commissions,” said Giorgi Kalandarishvili.

He said that all polling stations in Batumi, Rustavi and Gardabani have been counted.

“Data of all 14 polling stations in Batumi have been counted: Mate Putkaradze – United National Movement – 3,244 votes – 30.98%, Ramaz Jincharadze – Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia – 7,225 votes – 69.01%. Data on all 121 polling stations in Rustavi and Gardabani: Mamuka Tuskadze – For Social Justice – 2,634 votes – 6.95%, Irakli Shatakishvili – Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia – 34,333 votes, 90.61%, Kamal Muradkhanov – Georgian Unity and Development Party – 923 votes, 2.43%,” said Giorgi Kalandarishvili.

By-elections were held in Batumi and Rustavi cities of Georgia on April 2. Voters had to elect one member of the parliament in Rustavi and one member of the City Assembly in Batumi.
