National Archives delegation studies Polish counterparts’ expertise and regional operations during working visit

A delegation from the National Archives of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia has paid a working visit to the Republic of Poland at the invitation of the State Archives of Poland.

According to the National Archives, during the visit, delegation members examined the expertise of their Polish counterparts and the operational practices of local archival institutions.

“Ilia Lomidze, Head of the Infrastructure Development Department at the National Archives, and Sophio Jobava, Head of the Public and International Relations Division, toured the State Archives in Warsaw, as well as newly opened archival infrastructure in Kraków and Katowice. Directors of the host archives briefed the delegation on modern approaches to document repository design, state-of-the-art climate control, ventilation, and fire suppression systems, as well as ongoing conservation laboratory work, reading room facilities, and significant historical documents preserved within the archival collections.

During the visit, a meeting was held with Paweł Pietrzyk, General Director of the State Archives of Poland, to discuss prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation. The parties agreed that Georgian conservators will visit the restoration laboratory of the State Archives of Poland for professional exchange.
