Anti-occupation movement to hold march toward Skhvilo Fortress

The anti-occupation movement Power is in Unity will hold a protest march toward Skhvilo Fortress, Kaspi Municipality of the Shida Kartli region on Saturday.

Participants of the march will demand the release of Georgian citizens illegally detained by the occupational Tskhinvali regime.

One of the organizers Davit Katsarava said that mobilization of the public and government is needed for the release of the illegally imprisoned Georgian citizens.

“At Skhvilo Fortress territory we will hold a symbolic protest to urge the government and international community to use all the available mechanisms for the release of our citizens,” Katsarava claimed.

Protest participants gathered at First Republic Square in Tbilisi. Labor Party member Lasha Chkhartishvili, European Georgia member Levan Tarkhnishvili and Doctor Vazha Gaprindashvili joined the protest.

The occupied Tskhinvali Court sentenced the unlawfully detained Georgian citizen Zaza Gakheladze to 12 years and six months in prison on February 5.

Zaza Gakheladze, a local of Kvemo Chala village, Kaspi Municipality, was detained and wounded in his leg at Skhvilo Fortress on July 11. The occupied regime charged Gakheladze for an attempt to cross the so-called border illegally and for the attempted murder of a Russian soldier.
