Ambassador Herczynski sees increase in disinformation in spreading anti-Western narratives

“We are seeing a very significant increase in disinformation, in spreading anti-Western narratives,” said Pawel Herczynski, EU Ambassador to Georgia.

According to the EU Ambassador, despite the disinformation, “which is unfortunately, multiplied by some actors in Georgia,” the population of Georgia is “very pro-European.”

“We are seeing a very significant increase in disinformation, in spreading anti-Western narratives. And I’m really amazed by the population of Georgia, which is very resilient to such disinformation. And public poll clearly proves very high trust for the European Union. And in spite of this very strong disinformation sometimes, which is unfortunately multiplied by some actors here in Georgia, the Georgian population is very pro-European.

And I am really impressed that in spite of this sometimes, I can call it as HRVP did, propaganda, Georgians are clearly pro-European and they understand that future membership in the European Union is the best guarantee of peace, stability and prosperity for Georgia.

There is a lot of noise, there is a lot of confusion, there is an attempt to introduce mistrust. But what I want to say is that I’m really impressed that the Georgian people fully understand that integration with the European Union and future European membership of Georgia is the best guarantee for Georgia to be peaceful, stable, and prosperous,” he said.
