Ambassador Herczynski says EU to wait for OSCE/ODIHR, international observers report on Georgian elections
“We will be waiting for the report of OSCE/ODIHR, international observers that will happen the day after elections, and we will wait for their assessment about the electoral process and conduct of the elections,” said Pawel Herczynski, EU Ambassador to Georgia.
According to Ambassador Herczynski, “it is absolutely essential” that elections in Georgia are conducted in line with the highest international and European standards.
“One of the conditions that we set last year, when publishing the first enlargement report, was to have a free and fair electoral process. It is absolutely essential that all political parties in Georgia can compete freely, in a transparent, inclusive way.
We will be waiting for the report of OSCE/ODIHR, international observers that have been invited by the Georgian government to be here and to observe elections. The report and the press conference of OSCE/ODIHR will happen the day after the elections, and we will wait for their assessment of the electoral process and conduct of the elections themselves.
I can only repeat, it is absolutely essential that elections in Georgia are conducted up to the highest international and European standards. And I sincerely hope that this will be the case,” he said.
