Ahali’s Tevzadze: It will soon be announced that UNM and Khvichia’s Girchi will form a coalition

Tengiz Tevzadze, a member of the Coalition for Change and representative of the Ahali party, said he would not take seriously what he described as unfounded statements by UNM member Ana Tsitlidze regarding Nika Gvaramia.

According to Tevzadze, Tsitlidze, together with Girchi leader Iago Khvichia, is seeking to create divisions among Georgia’s pro-Western political forces.

“I cannot take fairy tales seriously. What Ana Tsitlidze or my neighbor said is of no importance to us. If Ana Tsitlidze had provided an assessment based on some grounds, I would respond because she is a member of an opposition party. But this is neither an assessment nor an accusation. It would be equally unserious if we sat down and discussed how Ana Tsitlidze dug a tunnel from Bombay to London.

“I am not going to follow unserious talk or a strategy allegedly planned together with Iago Khvichia. It will become clear in the near future that the United National Movement and Iago Khvichia’s Girchi will form a coalition.

“The claim that Nika Gvaramia somehow broke up the opposition is absurd. The fact is that they were defeated. As far as I know, they have their ratings and are looking at everything, and this party is behaving just like Iago Khvichia. Ana Tsitlidze’s position is not important, especially since she has no facts to support it, and we can gossip about this issue endlessly,” Tevzadze said.

Tevzadze also dismissed statements concerning former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia and an alleged $40 million, calling them “gossip.”

“If we had $40 million, we would be in government, while the United National Movement would have around 5-7%. Therefore, there can be no talk of any $40 million; it is gossip. I am genuinely interested in whether she can even count up to $40 million.

“As for Gakharia, if we had wanted to nominate someone as prime minister, we would have named that person during the election campaign, and we certainly would not have been afraid of Ana Tsitlidze. Not a single person from Gakharia’s side was included on our parliamentary candidate list,” Tevzadze said.

The remarks follow a statement by UNM member Ana Tsitlidze, who said: “Nika Gvaramia capitalized on Saakashvili’s resources. If anyone was the informal leader of the United National Movement, it was him when he was director of Mtavari Arkhi; he is responsible for many things.”
