Agriculture Minister, Veterans Affairs Chief, and Turkish Ambassador hand over farm machinery to veteran farmers in Imereti

Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Davit Songhulashvili, together with Director of the State Service of Veterans Affairs Koba Kobaladze and Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Georgia Mustafa Türker Arı, officially handed over agricultural machinery to military veteran farmers residing in the Imereti region.

According to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, 20 walk-behind tillers (hand tractors) were presented to the veteran farmers through joint support from the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and the State Service of Veterans Affairs.

Songhulashvili thanked Ambassador Arı and TİKA for their steadfast support of Georgian veteran farmers, noting that such initiatives offer another clear example of fruitful cooperation between the two nations.

“Today’s event demonstrates once again that the service and dedication of our veteran farmers to the nation remain a priority of constant care and attention for our government. The state attaches fundamental importance to agricultural development and to supporting our farmers, particularly small and medium-scale producers.

Under this support initiative, access to modern agricultural machinery is vital. Ultimately, these measures directly benefit the national economy and drive agricultural development across the country,” stated Davit Songhulashvili.

According to the Ministry, the handover aims to enhance agricultural productivity and bolster the operational capacity of veteran farmers.

“The partnership between the State Service of Veterans Affairs and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) was inaugurated in 2017. Over this period, numerous significant projects supporting veterans have been successfully implemented with Turkish assistance, spanning the agricultural and healthcare sectors,” the Ministry statement added.
