Adjara Government Chair: Rapid growth, investment, and modern infrastructure stem from gov’t commitment to regional empowerment

“Batumi is increasingly entrenching its status as a vibrant business hub hosting major international forums and key events,” Chairman of the Government of the Adjara Autonomous Republic Zurab Pataradze stated during his address at the Georgia International Maritime Forum (GIMF 2026).

Pataradze stressed that the maritime sector represents a strategic pillar for Adjara, noting that the forum will foster deeper regional cooperation and support the adoption of modern industry standards.

“Today, our region and the city of Batumi are increasingly synonymous with progress and growth, consolidating their standing as a primary centre for international business. Batumi has earned this reputation by successfully staging large-scale events, international forums, and high-impact strategic initiatives. Throughout our city’s history, its maritime character has always played a decisive role. As far back as the late 19th century, Batumi was granted porto franco status, cementing its global standing and enhancing Georgia’s overall transit potential. Our rapidly expanding economy, strong investment inflows, modern infrastructure, and broadening horizons are the direct result of the immense support the Georgian government provides to empower our region. Today’s forum, which brings together global experts and leaders from international organisations, stands as clear proof of that commitment. The forum’s core message reinforces a fundamental truth: maritime connectivity is a vital strategic imperative. For Adjara, the maritime sector is indispensable — our region is recognised internationally as a prominent centre for maritime education and professional seafarer training,” Zurab Pataradze stated.
