The 31st Infantry Battalion of the 3rd Infantry Brigade of the Western Command of the Georgian Defense Forces completed a training and evaluation program with a demonstration exercise at the Vaziani training ground, Georgian Defense Ministry reported.
According to the Defense Ministry, defensive positions were organized for the battalion, a raid was carried out, a conditional enemy was delayed and an important location was maintained based on a simulated scenario.
Deputy Commander of the Defense Forces, Major General Zaza Chkhaidze, the Commander of Training and Military Education, Colonel Zurab Khvichia and the Western Commander, Brigadier General Koba Grigolia, attended the exercise.
“During the four-week training, units of the 31st infantry battalion’s “Alpha”, “Bravo” and “Charlie” infantry companies underwent practical training in an environment as close as possible to the real situation. The training consisted of three phases.
The first stage included command-staff training, the second stage was dedicated to field-situational training, and the final phase included battalion combat firing. Observers from the Combat Training Center (CTC) of the NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Center (JTEC) monitored the training process during all three phases and prepared relevant recommendations. They rated the 31st Infantry Battalion as one of the most disciplined and motivated units.
The further training and evaluation program of the GDRP was aimed at raising the level of the battalion’s readiness and combat training,” the Ministry said.
