Turkish and Georgian Foreign Ministers hold phone conversation

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a telephone conversation with Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili, Anadolu Agency reported.

According to the Turkish Foreign Ministry, the Georgian Foreign Minister expressed condolences to her Turkish counterpart over the crash of the Turkish military cargo plane. The ministers also discussed the progress of the ongoing search and rescue operation.

The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the Turkish military aircraft, flying in the Azerbaijan–Turkey direction, crashed in the Sighnaghi municipality, approximately five kilometers from the Georgian border.

As reported by Sakaeronavigatsia, both Ganja Airport and the Turkish authorities have been informed about the incident.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense has confirmed that a Turkish C-130 transport aircraft crashed near the Georgian-Azerbaijani border, with 20 servicemen on board.
