Nika Melia, Chairman of the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party, said he would neither pay the bail nor be arrested.
According to Nika Melia, he respects state institutions but does not want to participate in a lie when the former chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream party, Bidzina Ivanishvili, controls all state agencies.
“I am morally honest in this struggle and before generations to come. We will win. I will neither pay the bail nor be arrested,” Nika Melia declared.
The UNM Chairman also called on the parliament to terminate his MP mandate.
General Prosecutor’s Office summoned UNM Chair Nika Melia on Friday, following failure to meet the bail payment conditions.
General Prosecutor’s Office gave Nika Melia an additional one-week term to pay the bail. Melia will face arrest if not pays 40 000 GEL bail or warrant the amount with the immovable property.
