Shopping centres to stay open on public holiday

Additional restrictions during Easter celebrations will not apply to the shopping malls and shops, Giorgi Ghibradze, Head of the Task Force operating at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council, stated on Friday.

The government only banned access to cemeteries on May 2-4 and intra-city municipal transport on May 2-12, he added.

Georgian government earlier declared May 4-11 as public holidays following Easter celebrations from April 31 to May 3. The decision aims to reduce mobility and curb the virus spread.

Further moves will depend on the epidemiological situation, he added.
