MP Salome Samadashvili quits UNM

MP Salome Samadashvili officially quit the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party.

According to Samadashvili, the UNM’s refusal to sign the European Council President Charles Michel-mediated compromise agreement is a “harsh political mistake.”

“The EU brokered document made it impossible for me to cooperate with the party, especially when I was one of the negotiators in the process. I think that the UNM decision is harmful on an international arena,” Samadashvili told TV Pirveli.

Samadashvili said she had talked to the UNM Chair Nika Melia about her decision. Melia said her standpoint was acceptable for him. They would remain friends, though their party-affiliation paths divided today.
