Vice Premier of Georgia and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Mikheil Janelidze has discussed the situation in the occupied regions of Georgia at the meeting with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, the Minister paid particular attention to the death of Archil Tatunashvili and emphasized the significance of the reaction of the international community, including the United Nations.
The Minister provided detailed information to the UN Secretary General and noted that this is another fact that once again confirms the difficult human rights, humanitarian and security situation in the occupied regions of Georgia.
At the meeting UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres noted that he is well aware of the problems in the occupied regions of Georgia. He underlined the importance of peaceful resolution of the conflict by the Georgian government and expressed further support to this process. UN Secretary-General underlined the urgency of intensifying the Geneva talks and strengthening the format. Antonio Guterres confirmed that the UN will continue active involvement in the conflict resolution process through a special representative.
