The document submitted to the ambassadors at yesterday’s meeting contains and endorses the opposition’s main demands. Some details have been added that may enable approximation of the positions. Levan Tarkhnishvili, a member of European Georgia Party told journalists.

According to Tarkhnishvili, the opposition is unwavering in its main demand calling for new elections in Georgia.

“We strongly believe that new election is the only way to discharge the current political and economic crisis. Our request to the ruling party is to return the response also in a written form so that there is a document and we are not limited only to oral communication,” Tarkhnishvili said.

The oppositional parties are planned to hold a meeting today at Labor Party office to share with the information about the meeting held on December 4 and to finalize the common position of 20 parties.

On December 4, Georgian oppositional parties presented the approved, coordinated, and common position documented in details aimed to overcome the post-election crisis in Georgia to facilitator Ambassadors.

Nine opposition parties that passed a 1% threshold to enter the new Georgian parliament refused to recognize the October 31 parliamentary election results, calling them rigged. The U.S. and EU Ambassadors to Georgia are facilitating the negotiations between the ruling Georgian Dream Party and the opposition, though the first two rounds ended in no promising results.
