Majority MP: UNM to be interested in getting to power at any cost, not in elections

The opposition United National Movement (UNM) is interested in getting to power only. It is preparing for an already seen scenario plotted from the next day after the elections, rather than the October 2 local race, said ruling Georgian Dream (GD) MP Shalva Papuashvili.

According to Papuashvili, the UNM is not interested in securing mandates through elections; it wants power at any cost.

“There is an attempt to raise the political temperature. These people are not preparing for October 2. They set plans for October 3. We think it will be the same scenario as after the November 1 parliamentary elections. In fact, they are not interested in the choice of the population but in getting to power. They are not preparing for the race, but for the day after the elections,” Papuashvili said.

The local elections are scheduled for October 2.
