Georgia scores best in region in Corruption Perceptions Index

According to the Corruption Perceptions Index, Georgia is still a top-scoring country in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Transparency International has released the 2020 Corruption Perceptions Index on Thursday, ranking levels of perceived corruption in governments globally. The Ministry of Justice of Georgia reports.

Georgia is in 45th place among 180 countries. It maintained its leading position and still ranks first in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, leaving nine EU countries behind.

“Georgia’s success is a result of the reforms implemented in recent years. Including civil service reform, the introduction of a system for monitoring officials’ property declarations, ensuring the rights of whistleblowers, increasing transparency in public procurement, Prosecutor’s Office reform, judicial reform, improving the investment and business environment,” Justice Ministry said in a statement.
