Deputy Health Minister Giorgi Tsotskolauri toured a field hospital in Digomi Olympic Village in the Georgian capital Tbilisi.
Tsotskolauri said surge hospital would be used in case of emergency only, though moderate COVID-19 patients would be admitted if needed.
“Fully equipped field hospital, consisting of 500 beds, was set up in two days. Every bed has an oxygen supply. The military doctors will also involve in infection management, if necessary,” he noted.
The epidemiological situation in Georgia has recently deteriorated. Earlier today, the country reported 2,676 coronavirus cases, 4,119 recoveries, and 30 deaths. Georgia’s total case tally reached 484,254, among them 425,651 people recovered, and 6,436 died.
