Zviad Gamsakhurdia Presidential Center opens in Zugdidi

The Presidential Center of Zviad Gamsakhurdia has officially opened in Zugdidi.

The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Culture Tinatin Rukhadze, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Irakli Chikovani, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Mzia Giorgobiani, and Director of the Union of Palaces and Museums of Georgia Giorgi Kalandia.

According to the Ministry of Culture of Georgia, the modern, multifunctional building includes a reading room, media library, workspaces, lecture and conference halls, exhibition and museum areas, storage facilities, and restoration laboratories.

As part of the opening, an exhibition titled ‘Contemporary Georgian Art’ was held, featuring 20th-century works by artists such as Elene Akhvlediani, Givi Toidze, Lado Gudiashvili, and Edmond Kalandadze.

A public lecture was also delivered by Konstantine Gamsakhurdia.

The project was implemented with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Zugdidi Municipality City Hall. The Presidential Center, part of the Union of Palaces and Museums of Georgia, was constructed by the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia.
