Zurab Pololikashvili - Georgia will be the first country to re-open tourism
“We are pleased that an anti-crisis economic plan has been developed in such a short period of time, which envisages the stages of the opening of domestic tourism, and then international,” said Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of the UN World Tourism Organization.
According to him, coordination and relations with European countries are necessary.
“Georgia will probably be the first country to re-open tourism to international visitors. We will definitely promote it. Coordination and relations with European countries are necessary. The most important for Georgia is the European markets and probably the Arab states. We have been working with them. The United Arab Emirates has already agreed that traffic will kick off from Dubai by the end of July,” Zurab Pololikashvili said.
Georgia will host the ministerial of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) on the Future Prospects of Tourism Industry in September 2020. Ministers of Tourism from several dozens of countries will attend the event.
