The Zugdidi central market in Western Georgia’s Samegrelo region has been closed since morning.

Retailers are rallying, demanding to ban outdoor trading near the market. Protesters argue that street vendors should work only in market spaces. They ask for a swift resolution to the problem or threaten large-scale protests.

Zugdidi City Hall says an effort is being made to consider all parties’ interests.
