Former Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili addressed protesters on Rustaveli Avenue, saying that “unity is the plan” as she congratulated demonstrators on seven months of sustained protests.

“Some people want to endlessly ask me for some non-existent plan – the plan is unity,” she declared at the ongoing “Georgia, Stand Up!” rally.

The former president stated that her only ambition is to save the country through unity, praising protesters for their resilience over the past seven months.

“I want to congratulate you – seven months of continuous protest have been completed. They couldn’t disperse it in any way. They couldn’t weaken it in any way,” Zourabichvili said, acknowledging the “very high price” paid by protesters.

Zourabichvili characterized the current government’s position as one of “weakness, dissolution, and collapse,” arguing that because they cannot strengthen themselves, they seek to weaken the opposition.

“If they can’t strengthen themselves, they want to weaken us – and how do they weaken us? They try to remove leaders, they try to pit parties against each other. Now they’re somehow trying to discredit me. It doesn’t matter, this won’t work out for them either,” she stated.

The former president declared that victory over the regime “will not come through election participation, nor through boycott, nor through hunger strikes, nor through any other means – the only struggle is the struggle for unity.”
