Ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili’s intoxication was not confirmed, Vivamedi Clinic’s neurologist Tamar Abashidze told the Tbilisi City Court on Thursday.
When speaking about the ex-president’s health state, Abashidze said the patient showed negative neurologic dynamics. She added that one of the diagnosis required in-depth analysis including a toxicology examination.
“The research we conducted was not positive. There is no laboratory test result confirming intoxication,” she told journalists.
Given Saakashvili’s rapidly deteriorating health, the Tbilisi City Court held a trial to consider whether his sentence should be suspended or deferred.
Saakashvili, 54, has been in a jail for more than a year, convicted of abuse of power while in office.
