Vintage 2024 kicks off in Racha

Vintage 2024 has officially begun in the Ambrolauri municipality of the Racha region. Over 50 wineries are participating, anticipating a grape harvest of approximately 2,000 tons, the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture reported.

“Due to climatic conditions, this year’s harvest in Racha started earlier than expected. Racha is renowned for its viticulture and winemaking, particularly for its unique local wine, Kvanchkara, along with other distinctive varieties,” stated Levan Mukhuzla, Chair of the National Wine Agency.

Mukhuzla also announced a government subsidization program for the region. Companies that purchase and process at least three tons of Alexandrouli and Mujuretuli grapes while paying growers at least GEL 8 per kilogram will be eligible for subsidies.

A coordination headquarters for Vintage 2024 has been established in Ambrolauri, and a hotline (1501) is available for additional information from the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture.
