Victory Day: Gov't gives out GEL 1,000 to WWII veterans 

Georgian veterans of WWII will receive a onetime financial bonus of GEL 1,000, while the families of servicemen, who died in WWII, GEL 500, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili announced on Monday to mark the 77th anniversary of the Day of Victory over Fascism and the end of WWII.

The PM has already signed the relevant decree, the government reported.

On May 8, 1945, World War II ended following the declaration of Germany’s capitulation. May 9 was declared the day of victory over fascism. Georgia lost up to 300,000 soldiers in this war.
