Vice-Speaker: Radical opposition aims to destabilize country, seize power through revolutionary means

I believe that anyone, regardless of their level of interest in politics, can see that the main goal of the radical opposition is to destabilize the country and seize power through revolutionary means. Gia Volski, the first vice-speaker of the Georgian Parliament, expressed this view on social media.

Volski also pointed out that external forces are contributing to this situation, posing a significant threat to the country’s stability.

He emphasized that despite criticism from various forums, internationally recognized research organizations have given positive evaluations of Georgia’s progress. He referred to a recent study by the Spanish institute Coordenadas de Gobernanza y Economia Aplicada, which praised the reforms implemented by the Georgian government. The study ranked Georgia ahead of other EU candidate nations, including Moldova and Ukraine, especially in areas such as corruption control and justice reform.

“Why the European Union has started accession negotiations with Moldova and Ukraine, despite their significant problems with corruption, state apparatus intransigence, and justice, while Georgia has made substantial progress in these areas and outperformed many EU and NATO member countries,” he questioned.

He cited several reputable international organizations, including the University of Oxford, UNDP, and Transparency International, which have provided data supporting Georgia’s superior performance in various metrics compared to other EU candidate countries. These metrics include the rule of law, human rights protection, freedom of expression, and government efficiency.

Volski acknowledged that Georgia still faces challenges in these areas but argued that the country’s current situation is much improved compared to the period when the “National Movement” was in power. He warned that the opposition is trying to manipulate younger generations, who lack direct experience of the previous regime’s human rights abuses, to support their revolutionary aims.
