Vice PM meets Türkiye's Energy Minister

First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Levan Davitashvili, met with Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, focusing on enhancing cooperation in the energy sector between the two countries.

The discussions revolved around priority areas of collaboration, particularly emphasizing the importance of ensuring the seamless operation of power transmission systems between Georgia and Türkiye. Both ministers underscored the significance of large-scale infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing the capacity and reliability of Georgia’s energy system. These projects are expected to facilitate regional electricity trade with neighbouring countries and bolster opportunities for import, export, and transit activities.

Focusing on regional energy projects, the meeting emphasized the potential to supply energy resources from Central Asia and the South Caucasus to the European market. One of the key focal points was the Black Sea submarine cable project, which is under technical and economic studies. The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to advancing efforts to position Georgia and Türkiye as reliable suppliers of energy resources to the European Union.
