World War II veterans gathered at Vake Park in Tbilisi to celebrate May 9 – Victory Day over Fascism.
Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze, Chairman of Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, representatives of the government and leaders of oppositional parties congratulated veterans on the day.
Victory Day over Fascism is a holiday that marks the surrender of Nazi Germany in 1945. Georgia made a huge sacrifice in World War II. Georgia lost 300,000 soldiers.
