US Secretary of Defense to leave Georgia

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, who paid an official visit to Georgia on October 18, left the country. Georgian Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze saw off his American colleague at the Tbilisi International Airport.

US Secretary of Defense held bilateral meetings with Georgian Defense Minister and Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili within the framework of his visit. An agreement was signed between the Defense Ministry and US Defense Department on strengthening Georgia’s defense capabilities. US Secretary of Defense also visited the military base of Special Operation Forces.

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin thanked Georgian PM and Defense Minister for hosting him in Georgia. “Thank you to PM Garibashvili and Defense Minister Burchuladze for meeting with me yesterday to discuss shared security concerns and reaffirm the strength of the U.S.-Georgia strategic partnership,” Lloyd Austin tweeted wrapping up his Georgian visit.
