US Embassy in Tbilisi has released a statement in connection with the 25th anniversary of the fall of Sokhumi.
“Today, we remember and honor all those who perished in Sokhumi massacre on this day in 1993.
Today marks 25 years after the fall of Sokhumi. As a result of this war, tens of thousands lost their lives and hundreds of thousands were displaced internally. On September 27, we honor those who died and extend our deepest sympathies to their families”, – Statement reads.
Due to the day, national flags are lowered at buildings of state institutions across Georgia.
