US Deputy Assistant Secretary of War holds bilateral talks at Georgian Ministry of Defence

Georgia’s Ministry of Defence has hosted Andrew Loomis, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of War, for high-level bilateral discussions.

According to the Ministry, Andrew Loomis met with Georgia’s Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Irakli Chikovani.

The meeting focused on the current defence cooperation between Georgia and the United States, as well as prospects for future collaboration.

“Discussions addressed the regional security environment and overarching challenges, the long-standing joint contribution of Georgian and American service members to international missions, as well as joint Georgian-American military exercises and strategic programmes,” the Ministry stated in an official release.

During his visit to the Defence Ministry, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of War also held talks with First Deputy Minister of Defence Paata Patiashvili and Deputy Commander of the Defence Forces, Major General Irakli Chichinadze.

Georgian defence leadership thanked Andrew Loomis and the visiting delegation, emphasising the role of the visit in strengthening bilateral security ties.

Members of the US delegation, including US Chargé d’Affaires ad interim to Georgia, Courtney Austrian, and US Defence Attaché, Colonel Jonathan Adams, also attended the meetings.
