UNM’s Tsitlidze: UNM did not leave opposition alliance; we were expelled
“The United National Movement did not leave the opposition alliance; we were expelled from it,” UNM member Ana Tsitlidze said.
According to Tsitlidze, the party learned about its expulsion after noticing that the UNM logo was missing from the opposition alliance’s new logo.
“The information was circulated with an incorrect interpretation, and that was probably more our fault than that of those who reported it, namely the journalists. We did not leave the alliance. We found out yesterday that we had been expelled.
“We learned this after our logo was missing from the new design. We had not been particularly active in the alliance over the past few months, especially following the intensified attacks on Mikheil Saakashvili, but we did not leave it.
“If we had decided to leave the alliance, that decision would have had to be made by the party’s Political Council and governing board. No such decision was made.
“Instead, in the morning, when Irakli Pavlenishvili was giving his regular comment, we noticed that the UNM logo was no longer on the alliance’s logo. The question was then raised as to whether we were still part of the alliance, and, as I understand it, they subsequently said that we had been expelled. Our response was that we had not been actively involved in the alliance in recent months,” Tsitlidze said in an interview with TV Pirveli.
