UNM’s Tsiskarishvili: Case against Levan Khabeishvili is politically motivated

“It is illegal for the same judge to issue a ruling and to handle a case against Levan Khabeishvili. This judge seems ready to sign off on anything, and they are placing the entire political burden on him,” said Petre Tsiskarishvili, Secretary General of the United National Movement.

According to Tsiskarishvili, Khabeishvili has not committed any crime.

“They may want to divide the rallies, but I assure the ‘Kotsis’  (Georgian Dream’s supporter),  that we will be everywhere – here, on Rustaveli Avenue, at the march to protect our country’s visa-free regime. The main point is this: there is no case against Levan, he has not committed a crime. By fabricating charges under the article of a coup attempt, in the best Soviet Bolshevik tradition, they reveal their true political face – persecuting and isolating opponents because they have nothing else to offer. For 13 years, they have achieved nothing, and their only weapon is political justice, used through puppet prosecutors and judges,” Tsiskarishvili stated.

The Prosecutor General’s Office has charged UNM members Levan Khabeishvili and Murtaz Zodelava with promising a bribe in exchange for an illegal act, calling for the overthrow of the state government, and obstructing the investigation. The prosecution is seeking pre-trial detention for Khabeishvili and bail for Zodelava.
