UNM’s Pavlenishvili: Unthinkable to rebuild ties with certain actors while their sole focus remains attacking Saakashvili
“Despite the relentless, multi-faceted criticism directed at Georgia, it appears the country’s primary problem, according to certain actors, is the abuse and vilification targeted at Mikheil Saakashvili and the United National Movement,” declared Irakli Pavlenishvili, Deputy General Secretary of the United National Movement.
Under these circumstances, Pavlenishvili believes that re-establishing professional communication and a working format with the Opposition Alliance is entirely unfathomable.
“Despite the relentless, multi-faceted criticism directed at Georgia, it appears the country’s primary problem, according to certain actors, is the abuse and vilification targeted at Mikheil Saakashvili and the United National Movement. Under these conditions, it seems utterly unfathomable to us to restore professional communication or a business-like format. We are not hindering them in any way; they are free to convene, make any decisions they wish, and plan whatever campaigns they like,” Irakli Pavlenishvili stated.
When asked whether he anticipated the party’s expulsion from the Opposition Alliance, Pavlenishvili replied: “That is not up to us, so, to be perfectly honest, I am not giving it any thought.”
