UNM to overhaul party structure and finances as congress and Political Council convene tomorrow
The Political Council of the United National Movement (UNM) will convene tomorrow, July 30, according to a statement by the party’s Deputy Secretary General, Irakli Pavlenishvili. He added that the party’s congress will also take place tomorrow.
As Pavlenishvili noted, the party will undergo sweeping changes across multiple areas.
“The Political Council of the United National Movement will meet tomorrow. Broadly speaking, as we know, changes will be introduced in our party across a range of areas, not solely financial ones. Over the past two years, repressive legislation has been passed; we have seen new political prisoners and political persecution elevated to a whole new level, alongside the blocking off of all financial sources. It is therefore essential that we adapt to the situation and increase our effectiveness, both financially and structurally. This is precisely why the reforms we are announcing are necessary. The Political Council will meet tomorrow, and immediately following its session, the party congress will take place on the very same day,” stated Irakli Pavlenishvili.
