UNM submits evidence of party chair's physical abuse to Prosecutor's Office
The opposition United National Movement (UNM) party members submitted evidence of the party Chair, Levan Khabeishvili’s physical abuse to the General Prosecutor’s Office and demanded punishment of those who assaulted Khabeishvili on Bidzina Ivanishvili’s (GD Founder) order, as they put it.
The UNM Political Council member Lasha Parulava arrived at the Prosecutor’s Office, together with attorney Lasha Tkesheladze and the party members.
“The attack on Levan Khabeishvili is not only a severe violence but political retribution against those opposition politicians, pro-western leaders, whom Ivanishvili’s regime has failed to prevail over for years,” Parulava said, adding seven days passed after the UNM Chair’s beating and no investigation was yet launched.
According to Lasha Parulava, the submitted evidence includes photos and names of the riot police officers who physically abused Khabeishvili.
“I would like to remind everyone that this violence has no statute of limitations, and all perpetrators will be held accountable before the law,” he said.
On May 1, the United National Movement (UNM) party reported that their chairman, Levan Khabeishvili, had been severely beaten and transferred to the Ingorokva clinic for medical assistance.
Before that, the UNM urgently reported that Levan Khabeishvili disappeared from the rally against the Transparency of Foreign Influence bill.
