UNM Pavlenishvili: No one wants war; Georgia should have greater access to Western economic benefits, no war is necessary for that

“We welcome any type of assistance that will be provided to Ukraine. The more funds are allocated to Ukraine, the more positive it will be for every patriot of Georgia. The greater the support for Ukraine, the more welcome this fact is for me. No one in this country wants war,” said Irakli Pavlenishvili, Deputy Secretary General of the United National Movement.

Pavlenishvili was asked about a statement by Nika Gvaramia, one of the leaders of the Alliance of Opposition, who said that if Ukraine wins the war soon, “trillions will be spent on its reconstruction, Georgia will not be allowed access to those trillions, while all of Europe will be engaged in construction and making money.”

According to Pavlenishvili, it would be beneficial for Georgia to have greater access to Western investments and economic opportunities, adding that “no war is necessary for this.”

“I understood Gvaramia’s statement as referring to assistance to Ukraine. When we talk about supporting Ukraine, I welcome Ukraine’s assistance in every case. The more serious the support is, the more I welcome it. It would be good for Georgia to have greater access to the West, Western investments, and the economic benefits provided by the West. Under Ivanishvili’s rule, this is impossible, and no war is necessary for achieving this,” Pavlenishvili said.
