UNM member says a larger European delegation to visit Georgia

A larger and more representative European delegation will visit Georgia in the nearest future, said Salome Samadashvili, a member of the United National Movement (UNM) party during the briefing.

According to Samadashvili, the visit will serve as “serious pressure” on the government. “Today, the Georgian government openly and obviously turned its back to our best friends in Europe,” she said.

Samadashvili claimed that European friends would make efforts to save ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili’s life, his health and Georgia’s European future.

“We have launched work with the European Parliament. Serious processes will begin in the nearest future with respect to reload of policy with our country. With barring MEP Anna Fotyga from meeting prisoner ex-president, the government confirmed that it openly merges from the Georgian people’s European choice,” Samadashvili said.

European Parliament member Anna Fotyga was barred from visiting jailed ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili at the N18 Gldani prison infirmary on November 12.
