UNM Foreign Secretary: EU faces difficult alternative to respond to GD's malevolent policy, on but keep European perspective for Georgians

“The statement of the EU Ambassador reflects a deplorable reality in Georgia, which the Georgian Dream created as a result of an intentional malevolent policy of Russian nightmare to derail Georgia from the EU and Western development vector,” said Zurab Chiaberashvili, Foreign Secretary of the United National Movement (UNM) party.

According to Zurab Chiaberashvili, the Russian law’s withdrawal will not help the situation.

“The solution is the removal of the violent Russian regime from power on October 26. As for the European Union, it faces a difficult choice. It should define its policy so that, on the one hand, it responds to the Georgian Dream’s harmful and malevolent policy and, on the other hand, keeps the European development perspective for the Georgian people.

I am sure that when we replace the violent regime with a coalition government, immediate progress will follow on the EU integration path. Therefore, the EU’s policy would be a response to GD but preserving European perspective for the Georgian people,” he said.

EU Ambassador to Georgia, Pawel Herczynski, said he regretted that the EU-Georgia relations were “undergoing a difficult period.” He added that next week, the EU would decide on the consequences of the enacted Georgian law on Transparency of Foreign Influence.
