UNM Chair vows to "fight to the end" to resolve pensioners' concerns
The chairman of the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party, Levan Khabeishvili vowed to fight to the end until worthy living conditions are ensured for the Georgian pensioners and their loans are annulled.
Addressing Pension Forum, Khabeishvili said that pensioners paid 4,000 GEL if they had 1, a 500 GEL loan, which was “burglary.”
“That is why we want the European Union, there is no 32% anywhere in the EU countries, there is no such thing anywhere in nature. There are maximum 2-4-6% loans, but here in Georgia, Bidzina Ivanishvili has established a banking oligarchy,” he said.
According to the UNM Chair, lowering the pension age for males to 60 was also a significant issue.
“The average European man lives up to 82-83-84 years, the average life expectancy of a man in Georgia is 67 years, there are 80 to 100,000 male persons in Georgia,” he said.
