UNM chair says intimidation, violence never suppress Georgian people
“They forced society to watch the physical assault of Aleko Elisashvili (leader of the Citizens party) intentionally to tell people that if we treat the MP like this, we will treat you worse. However, Ivanishvili (GD Honourable Chairman) and his gang will not frighten the Georgian people,” said Levan Khabeishvili, Chair of the United National Movement (UNM) party.
According to Khabeishvili, disguising police officers as “Sonderkommando” was a bad idea.
“These people are not police officers. They have nothing in common with the protection of people or law. What we saw was hard to watch. They act the same under the conditions of the Russian regime. Therefore, I would be mistaken if I said that they would raise the responsibility issue of Anzor Chubinidze (Head of the Special State Protection Service). Ivanishvili is who gives instructions and believes that everyone should serve him. That is why they have no feeling that police officers should protect the law, a police officer should behave per the law. All these people are identified.
They forced society to watch all this intentionally. Why? Because to tell people that if we treat the MP like this, we will treat you worse. This is their image. Everyone should realize that intimidation and violence would never succeed in suppressing the Georgian people. Ivanishvili will fail, and everything they do will return to them as a boomerang,” he said.
