UNM Chair: Entire civilized world unites against Putin, while Georgia retains Kremlin's stance

“While the entire civilized world is united against murderer Putin, Georgia continues to retain the Kremlin’s position. This is an anti-state fact,” said Levan Khabeishvili, Chairman of the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party.

Khabeishvili said he believed that if the country wanted to be a member of the European Union, it would not have to ally with Putin, a person wanted in 123 countries after the International Criminal Court in the Hague issued an arrest warrant against the Russian President for Ukraine war crimes.

In Khabeishvili’s words, Georgia should not violate the “game rules” of the EU and the civilized world.

“Our main objective should be urging other countries to impose sanctions on Putin and helping Ukraine in a war against Putin, especially when 20% of Georgia’s territory is occupied,” Khabeishvili said.

“It is important Georgia lives up to the democratic values we all believe in. And of course, we also expect non-NATO Allies to adhere to the sanctions and not make it easier for Russia to finance and maintain the war of aggression against Ukraine,” said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
