Unity - National Movement's Vashadze: Withdrawing lists only way to challenge illegitimate government, all other arguments are lies
“The only thing that a political group can do to recognize the illegitimacy of the government is to withdraw the lists and refuse mandates, all other arguments are lies,” Giorgi Vashadze, one of the leaders of the Unity – National Movement, responded to For Georgia leader Giorgi Gakharia’s briefing.
Vashadze further emphasized that if any opposition party maintains legal contact with what he called the “self-proclaimed regime,” it would undermine the international non-recognition of the parliament.
He also warned that even if Gakharia’s party continued to cooperate with the current parliament, it would not be legitimized.
“Even if Gakharia’s party fails to take this step and cooperate with this self-proclaimed parliament, it will never be legitimized. From this point forward, it will become clear who stands with the people, who is committed to non-recognition,” he added.
Gakharia, in his briefing, stated that his party would leave the mandates when they deem necessary and rejected the notion of removing the lists as a solution to absolve the opposition of responsibility for the ongoing political crisis.
