Unity-National Movement's Vashadze says protesters comply with law

One part of the opposition leaders and protest participants stay at Melikishvili Avenue. Giorgi Vashadze, leader of the Unity-National Movement coalition addressed the protesters and familiarized them with an action plan.

“We do not allow them (police) to detain us. We fully comply with the law. They violate the law. We do not get in contact with them, if they start to move, we relocate. This is the tactic of our mobile protest. Our goal is reached. Melikishvili Avenue is closed to traffic,” he said.

According to Vashadze, protesters will not get tired, the opposition will make prompt decisions to keep uninterrupted protests.

“This is not a short-term protest and we have different approaches, much is thought about and we make prompt decisions at the site to keep the uninterrupted protest going. Non-stop protest is significant, it exhausts the system but makes us stronger,” he said.

Giorgi Vashadze thanked the protest participants, who believe in “Georgia’s European perspective and the idea of strong Georgia.” He particularly extended his gratitude to youngsters.

“This continuous protest has two goals: to unite society within the country and not to achieve recognition of this election from outside, to mobilize more support from citizens to annul the special operation called elections and hold new elections, to ensure Georgia’s EU membership and the country without Bidzina Ivanishvili,” he said.

Early in the morning, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) called on protesters and organizers rallying at the Tbilisi State University (TSU) to clear the territory from artificial constructions in 15 minutes and move to another place to express their protest within the law. The police cleared up the road and removed several protesters from the territory.
