Ukrainian troops encircle Lyman

Ukrainian troops encircled the city of Lyman in the Donetsk region, a day after Russian President Vladimir Putin illegally annexed the region, the Ukrainian media reported.

The city, where approximately five thousand Russian soldiers remain deployed, is besieged. Reportedly, the Russian soldiers asked their commandment with the request to leave the city, but got a denial.

The Ukrainian army liberated 5 settlements near Lyman. The Ukrainian media says that taking Lyman will allow the Ukrainian troops to attack the occupants along the westward border across the Severodonetsk-Lisichansk territory.
