Georgia’s ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili’s Ukrainian lawyer Evgen Grushovets has arrived in Gori today to visit him in the Military Hospital.
The lawyer believes Saakashvili’s case is “politically motivated” as “no person is jailed with this charges in Ukraine.”
Evgen Grushovets hopes to be allowed to meet Saakashvili “to work on a plan how to help him.”
Georgia’s former president Mikheil Saakashvili was transferred to the Gori Military Hospital on Saturday, where he ended his 50-day hunger strike.
The ex-president has been charged with several criminal offences. In 2018, he was sentenced to six years in prison in absentia for abuse of power.
